Contact Improvisation with Måns Erlandson

We invite you to a three-day contact improvisation workshop with Måns Erlandson at Speilet. This workshop, a collaboration between KRA, DansiS, and Tou, is aimed at movers with experience who can take advantage of this incredible opportunity.

Måns is in Stavanger for the production Beretninger om Berøring by Live Skullerud, which is performed at TOU the 8th of November.

Moving in Contact is magic.

By exploring movement and timing, combined with tools of using surface, weight and lever to find a non-muscular way of taking and giving weight, we'll receive a sense of magic touch. This leads into dances where we can move others just by moving our own bodies. Dances where different kinds of touch and spiral work can make your motion fly both in an internal and external way. 

This workshop means training in different levels, from fish to bird, for moving in and out in contact with different tools and qualities for

moving in contact with different ways of receiving touch and information in contact dance. We will also practice in letting go of control with out losing it. For example falling and being up side down with trust. We will look for tools and methods for going in to playful dances!

"I want to share some of my experiences from the moving that allows in Contact Improvisation. Looking for weight that moves with timing,

creating a moving flow. My aim in teaching and performing Contact Improvisation is also to integrate each situation that appears in the dance, through presence, pleasure and playfulness."

Måns has been teaching and performing C. I. since 1993 in and outside Sweden, regularly teaching at the University College of Dance and Circus (DOCH), Mime and Theatre in Stockholm. He initiated the Nordic Improdance Meeting (NIM) in 1996 as well as organizing the Lillsved Jam & Seminar and the Nordic New Years Jam since 2002. He used to teach in festivals in Germany, Italy, Spain and the Scandinavian countries since 1998.

He has now had a break in CI, teaching less the past 10 years and giving more space for working with choreographing and making  performances as well as comunity dance-projects.
